Smoke and Hope

 I'm sure you would join me in wishing the smoke would dissipate.  While the majority of you and many of our acquaintances are under Evacuation Alert, lets remember to trust God and rest in him rather than allow anxiety to overtake us.

While this is bad, I am reminded of what is to happen sometime in the future. Revelation 8:7 says that when the 1st angel sounds his trumpet 1/3 of the earth will be burned up including trees and grass. I'm not sure I want to experience that!  The Bible consistently and often warns us of the terrible events and conditions of the last days. It also challenges us to pray- specifically that we would humble ourselves and seek God's face- his promise is that He will heal our land.

My challenge to you this morning is just that. Let's bow before God, confessing our own sin, humbling seeking his help- for both physical and spiritual rain.

I'm reminded of a song from a few years back.  I am  unsure of its author, but it's words are something like this- It's beginning to rain, hear the voice of the Father, saying whosoever will come drink of this water, he will pour his Spirit out on your sons and your daughters. If you're thirsty and dry, look up to the sky, its beginning to rain.      Amen.
